A simple first step into candle and wax melt making: 1 kg of Golden Wax 464 for container candles, 1 kg of Golden Wax 494 for wax melts, and three essential oils for scenting. Wicks and containers are not included, so you can choose ones to suit your jars.

What’s inside your set
- Golden Wax 464 – 1 kg. Creamy container soy wax with good scent throw
- Golden Wax 494 – 1 kg. Firm soy wax for melts and tarts (not for wicked candles)
- Orange Sweet Essential Oil – 100 ml. Sweet, juicy citrus
- Lemongrass Essential Oil – 100 ml. Fresh, strong citrus-grass
- Cedarwood Essential Oil – 100 ml. Warm, woody base note
Makes about five 200 g container candles and around 40 wax melts, with essential oil to spare.
Container candles (Golden Wax 464, 1 kg)
- Fix a suitable wick to the centre of each clean, dry container.
- Melt the wax to about 80–85°C, then remove from the heat.
- Add 70 g of your essential oil blend (7%) and stir gently for 2 minutes.
- Pour at 52–63°C, keep the wick centred and leave to set for 24 hours.
- Cure for 1–2 weeks before test burning.
Wax melts (Golden Wax 494, 1 kg)
- Melt to about 80–85°C, remove from the heat and stir in 70 g of essential oil blend.
- Pour into clamshells or moulds at 68–74°C and leave to set.
